about

This beautiful composition is a part of 'Jagor' , the very famous Goan folk tradition. Jagor is a night celebrated in the temple followed by plays, songs and acts.

This song is a part of the Jagor story where the newly-wedded bride wishes to meet her parents. She leaves for her home, but she has to cross the river and so she calles the boatman.

The boatman arrives and explains her all the hurdles and also ensures to drop her safe at the other side of the river.

lyrics

There are strange tides in the moonrise
As we chance our course o'er the foam
Our salt-cracked call is for the landfall
And the voices and hearths of home.
